Did you know?
Millepages is the biggest independent library in the entire Île-de-France region! It has just celebrated its 40th anniversary but it hasn’t aged a bit! On the contrary, for literature fans it is the venue of exciting encounters organised every month in both the main library and the youth section.
Chocolatey pleasures
Black ganache with yuzu or Provence almond praline? You just want to taste everything at Julien Dechenaud’s chocolate shop. This incredible chocolatier is barely 30 years old but has already worked with the likes of Jean-Paul Hévin, Patrick Roger and Alain Ducasse! His hallmark? Generosity, which becomes obvious when you drool at the display of macaroons, fondants and cookies to die for.
Haute-couture in the kitchen
320 m², 1,600 bottles… but only 30 seats! “I want to continue enjoying the pleasure of serving haute-couture cuisine”, says Jacky Ribault, the enthusiastic chef of the Michelin-starred restaurant, L’Ours. Every day, he puts together a new menu based on whatever treasures he finds, which gives him the freedom to follow his instinct in dishes that are natural and yet delicate. They are wonderfully powerful every time. Memorable!
Baguettes galore!
Crispy on top, soft on the inside and risen to perfection… The department’s best traditional French baguette of 2016 was baked in Vincennes! The Fournil du Château bakery also proposes crunchy walnut & white chocolate tarts, praline cream eclairs, almond tarts and many other delights. Delish!
From kimono to kitchen
The Olympic medal-winning judoka, Bertrand Damaisin, runs the Olympe Sport Café. Come for the view over Château de Vincennes and, of course, to enjoy the generous cuisine in a setting beyond compare. This is the haunt of athletes from the INSEP campus, where Olympic champions are truly made, and of local residents who come to unwind in the warm and friendly atmosphere.
Feast your eyes and ears
Miro, Chagall, Braque, Matisse… La Galerie Frémeaux proposes over 4,500 prints by 20th-century artists! Besides managing the gallery, as music publishers, Frémeaux & Associés have received more than 1,000 distinctions, including a Diaposon d’Or and the Prix Charles Cros. A key address in Vincennes.
